Assessment

In May 2007 FETAC published guidelines for providers to assist in the development of policies and procedures for the fair and consistent assessment of learners. These guidelines set out the role and responsibility of the provider with regard to quality assuring all aspects of their assessment process. To fulfil their role and responsibilities in relation to Assessment, registered providers are required to put in place the following;
- an assessment process
- an authentication process, including processes for internal verification and external authentication
- a results approval process
- an appeals process
These requirements apply to all registered providers from 1st July 2008
Internal Verifier Guidelines
These guidelines are intended to assist the internal verifier in carrying out their role within the context of the provider's own quality assured assessment, internal verification and authentication processes. Download Internal Verifier Guidelines here.
Guidelines for External Authenticators
To assist and facilitate providers in the implementation of the external authentication requirements, FETAC has established a panel of quality assured external authenticators.
Guidelines for External Authenticators have been developed to provide authenticators with a common framework and structure for carrying out their role, to ensure the process of external authentication is undertaken in a systematic coherent professional and transparent manner.
The guidelines outline the key elements of the role and are intended to facilitate the Authenticator in carrying out the external authentication process. Download Guidelines for External Authenticators.
