A Policy for Determining Standards
Since 2001 FETAC has adopted and operated the processes and procedures of the Former Awarding Bodies with regard to determining standards for awards. FETAC commenced a consultation phase in 2004 for the development of a policy for determining standards for the future. A Standards Forum was established as the formal consultation mechanism to assist and advise Council in the development of this policy. The Forum has met regularly since its establishment.
With the assistance of the Standards Forum, a draft policy was prepared for consultation in April 2005. This policy was circulated to a wide range of stakeholders and made available on the website for comment.
The policy was approved by the FETAC Council in September 2005.
FETAC would like to acknowledge the contribution of all those involved in the consultation process. In particular FETAC would like to thank the management and staff of the Former Awarding Bodies, FÁS, Fáilte Ireland and Teagasc and the representatives of the Standards Forum who have given significantly in time and resources to assist in the development of this policy.
