Recognition of Awards

FETAC recognises the value of awards made by another awarding body, whether Irish or foreign, where the awarding body is:

  • nationally recognised in its own country
  • operating a quality assured awarding process

The method by which recognition is given is through exemption from one or more appropriate minor award(s) where a learner is seeking a major award. An exemption cannot be requested by a learner directly. It must be submitted by a centre on behalf of the learner. For details view Guidelines Document and Application Form.

Qualifications can cross boundaries

To assist learners, employers and other interested parties, the National Qualifictions Authority of Ireland has published a Guide to Comparing Qualifications in Ireland and the UK. This information leaflet is designed to enable broad comparisons to be drawn between qualifications and their levels in Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
